Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk 2012
Nearly 200 people braved the wind and rain to walk from Blackpill to Mumbles in support of Alzheimer's Society on 30th September.
Jane Hitchings, our Regional Manager for Older People's Services in the west was there to tell Kev Johns, the assembled crowd and Swansea Sound listeners how Gwalia Mynydd Mawr represents a new approach to dementia-specific care in Wales.
Jane also met some Memory Walking Smurfs from Port Talbot and danced to the grooves of Samba Tawe, whose drummers and dancers led the walk off towards Mumbles.
Ben Davies of Swansea City Football Club cut the ribbon to start the walk and shared his personal experiences of seeing a family member affected by dementia.
