Local school pupils name our new homes
Pupils at Manselton Primary School have named our new Over 55s homes opposite their school on Bohun Street. The apartments have been built on land behind St Michael and All Angel’s Church.
Pupils were asked to suggest a name for the new homes in their community and to design posters about the dangers of building sites.
The winning name is 'Cwrt San Mihangel' (St Michael’s Court in English) and a £100 Waterstones voucher was awarded to the school.
Our Executive Director, Stuart Davies said “We are always keen to get involved with the communities where we are developing and thought it would be a great opportunity to offer the children at Manselton Primary School the chance to name a new development that will have a lasting legacy.”
Vicar of St. Michael’s, Jonathan Davies named the winner of the Health and Safety poster design. Year 3 pupil, Joseph Thomas won a £25 voucher for his design.
Paul Stephens from T Richard Jones said “It’s important to us to raise awareness of the dangers of building sites, especially when we are working so close to schools. The children took everything we told them on board and produced some brilliant posters.”
Proceeds from the sale of the Church land has helped to improve community facilities. In the Church, two more rooms for activities have been created, the hall has been improved and new kitchen and toilet facilities have been installed.
