Move in Day Arrives for Powys Families

Our new development at Tan y Garth Six Powys families have moved into a new affordable rented housing development in Abercrave.

Gwalia worked with local developers Tycroes Group at Tan Y Garth to provide the community with 6 affordable new homes to rent made up of four 2 bedroom houses and two 3 bedroom houses.

Demonstrating Gwalia’s continued commitment to building sustainable homes, the £650,000 development saw the properties built with a powder coated steel roof, Colorcoat Urban, a highly sustainable material. The roof was also manufactured with over 20% recycled materials, giving it a green guide rating of A+. All six properties have been highly insulated, ensuring that the heating bills of its residents will be affordable.

This modern development, which is a short distance from the Brecon Beacons National Park, will mark Gwalia’s first housing project within Powys for almost 10 years, and has served the needs of local residents for more affordable rented housing in the area.

Speaking on the development, Lesley Penn, Executive Director of Housing & Community Welfare says “We are thrilled to be providing affordable homes in Powys and look forward to working with Powys County Council on future developments. Gwalia is committed to developing affordable housing for Welsh communities and the Tan Y Garth development has provided local families with affordable housing and reduced heating costs”.

Gwalia’s next planned development within Powys County will be a rented housing development of seven apartments and seven family homes at Spencer Terrace, Ystradgynlais.
