New Affordable Homes in Abercrave, Powys
We have recently begun work onsite in Abercrave to develop six new affordable homes to rent.
The development, on Tanygarth, will see the construction of 4 two bedroom houses and 2 three bedroom houses by local developers Tycroes Group.
Building new affordable homes in the area, which is just a few hundred metres from Brecon Beacons National Park, has been earmarked as a strategic housing priority by Powys County Council.
The properties at the £650,000 development will be built with a powder coated steel roof, called Colorcoat Urban, which is highly sustainable. The processes involved in manufacturing the roof are so carefully controlled that its carbon footprint is more than 3 times lower than some of the leading eco-designed urban roofing products. The roof will also be made with at least 20% recycled material and has a green guide rating of A+.
Jonathan Hughes, our Head of Development said “Gwalia has a long tradition of building sustainable homes and has been developing homes with sustainable materials for decades. We are always open to working with new sustainable products.
“We believe that by using durable and environmentally friendly materials we can reduce the carbon footprint of our developments. In addition these properties will be highly insulated meaning that the residents will be able to afford to heat their homes as less heat will be lost through the building fabric.”
Cyril Williams, Director of Tycroes Group said “We have been associated with Gwalia for many years and are committed to producing top quality homes for the Group.”
