Playful Communities

Play Right Pirate Ship

Tori Wright is a play development officer for Swansea-based charity, Play Right The initiative is being run in partnership with Swansea-based charity, Play Right and Tori Wright, a play development officer, has been employed to deliver this project and work with children and young people living in Gwalia and surrounding properties.

Playful Communities will provide opportunities for both children and adults: The Play Right pirate ship will visit several communities throughout the summer offering children the chance to get together and play safely outdoors. While adults will also be encouraged to get involved through volunteer play worker training & play champion training.

Lesley Penn, Executive Director of Housing & Community Welfare said: “We hope that funding a play development officer will help to meet the developmental needs of children and young people leading to improved wellbeing.

“By offering training and support to tenants to become play champions our goal is to increase the knowledge and expertise about play, so that more opportunities can develop and thrive in local communities.”
