Redevelopment plans kick-off for the Vetch

Cetch artists impression We've kicked-off redevelopment plans for the Vetch field by lodging a planning application to build sheltered apartments on the site of the former football ground.

Plans were submitted to Swansea Council to build a state-of-the-art complex of 30, one bedroom apartments with communal and management facilities. The new development, if given the green-light by planners later this year, forms part of the local authority’s Vetch Field Masterplan.

Richard Davies, our Executive Director of Customer Services, said: "The new, modern facility will replace Gwalia’s Llys Dewi Sant sheltered housing scheme, which is currently sited in the heart of the city centre at St David’s Place. This will help pave the way for the Council to forge ahead with plans to strengthen links between the waterfront, which has undergone extensive regeneration in recent years, and the city centre.

Vetch articts impresion "Through partnership working, Gwalia will be assisting Swansea Council to achieve it’s regeneration plans for the city for the benefit of local residents and communities. Maintaining and creating high quality social housing is our priority and the new scheme will allow us to provide more homes to modern standards. At the same time, this scheme will improve the standards of accommodation for the current tenants of Llys Dewi Sant, including the addition of car parking, more outdoor space and lift access to all floors."
