Rural Housing Week: Cysgod y Cwm nearly ready for handover
At the start of Rural Housing Week we are nearly ready to hand over 13 new homes in Llanybydder to excited new tenants.
The 2 and 3 bedrooms family homes in the Teifi valley have been built on land next to Cwm Aur, our existing extra care scheme and have been designed to reflect the characteristics of the traditional Welsh ‘long house’.
Materials sympathetic to the area have been used including natural stone site detailing and slate effect roofs, while open frontages to each property help to foster a natural community spirit.
Energy efficient, environmentally friendly photovoltaic panels have been installed at Cysgod y Cwm to reduce the carbon footprint and supplement the primary fuel source with the aim of reducing utility costs in this rural location.
We have also installed bat boxes on trees neighbouring the development to conserve the stable micro-climate for the existing bat population.
